About LCStats.ie
LCStats.ie visualises Leaving Certificate grade distributions over time. Everything here is based on aggregated, publicly released statistics - no individual results.
How to interpret the charts
Grade labels
Grades are shown as H1–H8 (Higher), O1–O8 (Ordinary), or F1–F8 (Foundation). Each bar/point shows the percentage of candidates who received that grade band.
All subjects combined
The “All subjects combined” view aggregates the published distributions for every subject, weighted by the number of candidates sitting each subject. (It reflects overall subject entries, not unique students.)
Summary stats
Alongside each chart we show:
Most common grade (mode): the grade band with the largest share.
Median grade: the grade band where the cumulative distribution crosses 50%.
Average grade (mean): a weighted mean where 1 is best.
Top 3: the share of candidates in bands 1–3.
